Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives

The most magical holiday at the Barcelo Whale Lagoon. From the second we arrived at Male airport we were looked after by cheerful, knowledgeable staff till the moment we went through security to come home. We had high expectations and this resort exceeded them. Our beautiful water bungalow overlooking crystal clear water blew us away. The food and service was excellent all week. All staff went above and beyond. Complete relaxation on a beautiful desert island. It never felt crowded or “resort like”. The spa massage set us up for a fabulous week. We will be back.

Such a beautiful resort with wonderful staff! Too many to name but enjoyed everyone in the spa including Widya and Esther. Awesome servers includind Aryan, Suresh, Manish, Imma, Srishant (sp?). Housekeeping is fantastic and so is everyone at reception. Having the most amazing time here and so sad to leave!

Great place … 100 percent recommended it . Will definitely be going back. Just want to say a big thanks to Manish and all the other staff who were friendly and very welcoming. You all made my holiday a lot more special, such nice people. The hotel is very clean and well maintained, always staff making sure everything is in order and in place. 🙏

We had an absolutely marvelous beautiful gorgeous incredible stay. The resort is clean, beautiful, and comfortable but that isn't just what makes it special. What made the trip so incredibly special was the care, attention, and friendliness of the team at the resort. Pooja was a fantastic, attentive server who always remembered us, what we liked and where we liked to sit from day 1. She always had a ready smile and made sure we were enjoying our stay. Charles helped us out planning any special meals and was always around the restaurant checking guests had what they needed. Dewa is a terrific, friendly sous chef who made great food he was happy to modify if needed. Shaheen kept our GORGEOUS over water villa absolutely spotless. The whole Team at Koamas Dive and Water Center helped us at one point or another either getting our snorkel gear or providing information on the tours or actually being our guides on the Tours we took. The were all very informed on the tours and availability and would even add tours if there was enough demand. I cant say enough about how safe we felt snorkeling with Anton. The entire time we were snorkeling- while he was pointing out different sea life- he was also always looking around, checking on us and making sure everyone was safe and comfortable in the water and doing it with an engaging, friendly demeanor. He made sure everyone got to see what we were there to see and also made time to get to know a little bit about everyone who was out with him. That said ALL of the Team at the center were terrific. I wish I could name them all here but we lost their names on the way home. I cant say enough how much we loved this anniversary trip or about how incredible it was from start to finish. The location is special, the resort is special, and the people are so very special. Thanks Barcelo Whale Lagoon!

The hotel facilities and rooms are very nice and everything is quite new but it is still quite far from other options of similar price. The personnel is also very good and friendly. If you are looking for a good snorkel this is not the hotel to go, there are many better options in Maldives, the reef is quite bad and the water is a little more deep than 50cms so it's very cumbersome to snorkel there. Also no sharks, turtles or stingrays and just normal coral fishes around since it's not deep at all. The food of the two restaurants opened for lunch is very limited and quite bad. The main restaurant buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner is quite good. They need really to improve the menus and quality of food in the other two restaurants. About the all inclusive option, it's not bad but lacks basic things that you have to pay apart such as natural juices or smoothies that are only available through a platinum all inclusive package. To finalizar, excursions offered by the hotel are really overpriced and they are not included even one like other resorts do.
